Dishora · Privacy Policy v1.1 · Last updated July 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Dishora ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the Dishora mobile application (the "Service"). By using Dishora you consent to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide:
- Account details: email address and password (stored hashed) when you create an account.
- Profile name and optional avatar photo.
Information collected automatically:
- Dietary profile: diet type, allergies, and cuisines you select.
- Cooking preferences: skill level, time availability, instruction style, and recipe tone.
- Pantry contents: ingredients you add to your virtual pantry.
- Recipe history: recipes you generate, save, cook, and rate.
- Usage data: screens viewed, features used, app interactions, and crash logs to improve the app.
- Device data: device model, operating system version, and a randomised device identifier.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To generate, personalise, and improve AI-powered recipes and cooking suggestions.
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you across sessions.
- To remember your pantry, collections, recipe history, and cooking streaks.
- To analyse usage patterns and improve features, stability, and performance.
- To provide gamification features such as streaks, XP, and badges.
- To send service-related notifications (e.g. weekly discovery alerts) where you have enabled them.
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and technical issues.
4. AI-Generated Content & Data Processing
Recipe content is generated by third-party AI language model providers. To produce your recipes we send the following data to these providers:
- Ingredients, dietary preferences, cuisine choice, time, skill level, and recipe tone.
We do NOT send personally identifiable information (such as your name, email, or location) to AI providers. Only the data needed to generate a recipe is transmitted.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on your device and on our secure servers. Authentication credentials are kept in encrypted on-device storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do NOT sell your personal data. We share data only with these service providers, and only as needed to operate the Service:
- AI providers (OpenRouter): anonymised recipe-generation inputs (no PII) as described above.
- Cloud hosting (Render): infrastructure and database hosting to operate the Service.
- Crash reporting (Sentry): de-identified crash logs and diagnostics to improve stability.
- Advertising (Google AdMob): a randomised device identifier and approximate location derived from your IP address to serve and measure ads, subject to your platform's privacy controls, including App Tracking Transparency on iOS and the consent choices shown in the app.
- Subscriptions (RevenueCat) and app stores (Apple / Google): purchase and subscription data processed under their own privacy policies.
Some of these providers process data in countries other than your own (including the United States). Where required, such transfers are protected by appropriate contractual safeguards.
We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights, property, or safety.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the app. Upon deletion, your personal data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
8. Children's Privacy
Dishora is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location (for example under PIPEDA in Canada, GDPR in the EEA/UK, or CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Request deletion of your personal data (also available in-app via Delete Account).
- Request an export of your data in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, including personalised advertising.
- Withdraw consent to data processing at any time (note: this may prevent use of the Service).
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@dishora.app.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be surfaced in-app. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision, and the current version is always available in-app and on this page. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
